Istinct Neural Circuits Reflect Sex, Sexual Maturity, Nd Reproductive Status in Response to Stress in Rosophila Melanogaster

چکیده
bstract—Studies in mammalian systems have shown rray of changes in transmitter signaling in diverse b egions in response to stress, which differ depending on ge and genetic makeup of the animal, as well as the t tress. Here, we exploit the genetic tractability of the fru rosophila melanogaster, a comparatively simple but use odel in which to elucidate conserved components of st esponse pathways. We show that structures within ushroom bodies and central complex, two distinct anat cal regions within the Drosophila brain, modulate behaviora esponses to two different environmental stressors. Mod ation of behavioral output after exposure to these stres as dependent on the sex, sexual maturity, and reproduc tatus of the animal. These parameters also affected whe mutant Drosophila strain carrying specific defects with he mushroom bodies and/or central complex modified esponse to stress relative to wild-type flies. Our res uggest that for each population, unique subsets of neu re recruited into the stress response circuitry and diffe ially affect locomotor behavior and cardiac function. Th ata also provide evidence for neural plasticity in the nsect brain. © 2008 IBRO. Published by Elsevier Ltd ights reserved.

The development of sexual behavior in túngara frogs (Physalaemus pustulosus).
We examined the emergence of a critical component of sex, response to sexual signals-phonotaxis-in male and female túngara frogs (Physalaemus pustulosus). We determined the ontogenetic trajectories of phonotactic responses as animals developed from metamorphic froglets to reproductive adults. The results demonstrated that species-typical phonotaxis emerges quite early during postmetamorphic dev...

متن کاملShared neural circuitry for female and male sexual behaviours in Drosophila
Sexual reproduction in most species involves innate behaviours that are dramatically distinct in males and females. The different behaviours of males and females are generally thought to reflect the activation of sex-specific neural circuits; however, sex differences could also arise through the sex-specific modulation of circuits that are common to both sexes. Here, we present evidence that th...

In order to increase the knowledge of the probiotic effects on reproductive indices of fish, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of different levels of probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum on gonadal development and sexual maturation in zebrafish (Danio rerio). Some 720 zebrafish were fed the experimental diets in four treatments such as: 0%, 0.5%, 1.5% and 3% probiotic diets for ...
